Summary
[edit]DescriptionAylesbury, Vale Park - geograph.org.uk - 900341.jpg |
English: Aylesbury: Vale Park A few days before this photograph was taken, Aylesbury Vale District Council, who are responsible for the management of the park, won a prestigious Green Flag Award http://www.greenflagaward.org.uk/ for the very first time for it. The award the equivalent of the blue flag for coastal resorts recognises excellence in parks and open spaces.
The design of Vale Park was originally drawn up by Thomas Mawson and Son, but the scheme was never implemented. Instead a design drawn up by the Borough Council Engineer, William Harold Taylor, probably influenced and possibly guided by Mawson, was eventually built. The park was formally opened in 1937. This is the view on entering the park from the High Street. |
