Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Axford Pumping Station A large groundwater source, supplying Swindon and surrounding area.

Owned and operated by Thames Water, this source has a contentious history. The need for water is undoubted, but the station's pumping has been blamed by local landowners and fisheries for worsening the condition of the nearby River Kennet.

A lot of money has been spent on environmental studies to determine how best to regulate water abstraction. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/News/thames_axford.html
