Description
Gødningsfabrikken (The Fertilizer Factory) in Mundelstrup was founded in 1871. After a period of stagnation the plant was sold to A/S Dansk Svovlsyre- & Superphosphat-Fabrik (now Superfos) in 1902. The new owners bought up large tracts of land and erected new buildings and a siding to the main Aarhus-Randers railway (to the right). The factory was closed in 1925 and in the 1990s the cleaning up of polluted land cost the Danish State 30 million DKK. Mundelstrup Gødningsfabrik at tilstarkiv.dk (in Danish). Note that the painting was used on the cover of Allan Frandsen's book about the factory.
