Title
Axehead
Description
English: A bronze blade end of a small socketed axe or chisel. Measuring 17mm in length and 38mm in width (along the cutting edge). The blade is convex with slightly recurved tips. The end of the socket recess is visible at the break. The break is patinated as the rest of the axe and is presuambly ancient. This fragment is affected by invasive corrosion and much of the edge is lost and pitted. A dark green patina survives in places but where this is pitted or lost the surface is pale green. This fragment is late Bronze Age in date and could possibly (though not neccessarily) have originally have been part of a Bronze Age hoard.
