Title
Axe head
Description
English: The bronze blade end of a small flat axe, measuring 41.7mm in blade width, 34.4mm in surviving length and 8.9mm in thickness. The blade is possibly low flanged but is too worn and fragmentary to be sure, the edges in particular are severly pocked due to invasive corrosion. It has a splayed convex cutting edge. The patination is medium green.

This form of small axe with an expanded cutting edge is typical of Arreton form axes, which usually have slight flanges, of the end of the early Bronze Age, circa 1600BC.
