Title
Axe fragment
Description
English: A fragment of very worn cast bronze, roughly triangular in shape, measuring 20mm in length, 39mm in width and 6mm in thickness. This fragment is most likely to be part of the blade end of a mid to late Bronze Age axehead or palstave, although with such a small and worn fragment it is impossible to be completely certain about this identification. The thinner likely blade edge is very worn but appears to be an original edge. One other original edge down the side of the axe also survives. The other edges are very worn and incomplete due to old breaks. The patina is dark brown and patches of active powdery green corrosion can be seen.
