Title
Axe
Description
English: The bronze blade end of a small solid bladed axe or chisel with an ancient break. This is probably a flat axe blade fragment but could be a very small palstave, unfortunately the surface is very corroded so it is not clear whether casting seams existed or not, although one side appears to show a linear step or groove which may be suggestive of a two piece mould. The blade has a convex cutting edge which is expanded beyond the line of the othrewise straight sides, which are not characteristic of palstaves. The surface has pocking and active plae green corrosion products are visible. This probable flat axe fragment is early Bronze Age in date.
