Summary
[edit]DescriptionAwre Junction (near) by Severn Estuary geograph-2946725-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Elderly ex-GWR Pannier 0-6-0T by Severn Estuary near Awre Junction. View NE at Gatcombe, towards Awre and Gloucester on the original GWR South Wales main line via Gloucester, which has long picturesque stretches by the Severn Estuary. [Ahead is a promontory which must have been east of Hagloe or of Awre, but seems rather too elevated. It is also seen in my SO6705 : Down freight between Awre and Lydney, beside the Severn Estuary at the same loaction, but there it is much less prominent; only three years had passed between the occasions, so erosion can hardly be an explanation!] The engine tootling along is Dean '2021' class No. 2039 (built 2/1898 as a saddle-tank, rebuilt with pannier tanks 4/18, withdrawn 4/50). |
