Awl : Mesolithc
Description
English: A complete flint awl of Mesolithic date (9500-4300 BC). The awl is sub-spatulate in profile with a single spur projecting from the distal edge. The dorsal surface has been roughly flaked however an extremely minor amount of cortex is retained on the spur and there is some rough retouch to the left and right hand edges. The ventral surface is smooth and slightly convex due to a bulb of percussion at the proximal end over which is a single deep negative scar.

The flint is a mid grey in colour with cream inculcations through out, the cortex is a mid brown in colour.
