Summary

[edit]
Description

Built as RAF LT773 and delivered 1943 to Australia as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme. Sold off to Marshall Airlines at Bankstown after the war and registered as VH-AZU but never used commercially and left in Marshalls storage. Wings were cut off in the 1950s due to Aust Government concerns of glue deterioration with Ansons and the remains left in the Georges Hall backyard until exported back to the UK and restored to RAF standard by ARCo on behalf of The Fighter Collection as part of a larger deal with the RAF Museum. Delivered to Hendon in April 1996 and remains on display in the Bomber Command Hall, sitting on a Queen Mary trailer. This aircraft has often been incorrectly confused with Anson VH-ASM which also was in storage at Georges Hall but now in 2021 is on display at Tamworth NSW Australia. For more information please refer to the comprehensive history of both aircraft by Geoff Goodall at the link shown below.
