Summary
[edit]DescriptionAvoca Spring (11 August 2011) 23.jpg |
English: Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA).
Avoca Spring is located in the far-western Sapphire Group of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. This geyser consists of an elongated, curvilinear, 6 to 7 meter long, ~1 meter wide fracture. Since 2006, Avoca Spring has acted as a perpetual spouter. Episodic increases in eruptive energy are called “minor eruptions” and “major eruptions”. A geyserite bridge occurs near the southern end of the feature. |
