Summary
[edit]DescriptionAvatar Grove Nurse Log 3.jpg |
English: Nurse logs are characteristic of old-growth forests. As old trees die and fall to the forest floor they begin to slowly decay. This provides an excellent starting ground for young seedlings (here Tsuga heterophylla) and also retains moisture necessary for species such as Lungless salamanders.
