Summary

Description	Autun (Saône-et-Loire) La Tour des Ursulines. La tour des Ursulines, se trouve à la pointe méridionale de l’enceinte antique. Anciennement appelée Tour des Prisonniers, puis Tour François Ier, c'est un donjon érigé au XIIe siècle. Cette tour est le seul élément subsistant de la forteresse médiévale de Riveau, elle a été élevée sur des bases gallo-romaines et intégrée au rempart. La forteresse fut démantelée vers 1600. La tour fut propriété des religieuses Ursulines de 1647 à la Révolution, puis des Visitandines au XIXe siècle. Ces dernières y installèrent la statue de la Vierge en 1862. La tour appartient depuis 1997 à un artiste japonais, le peintre et restaurateur Hisao Takahashi. Il en a fait un centre culturel franco-japonais.
