Description

Autun (Saône-et-Loire)

La "Maison du gardien" ou "Maison des Caves Joyaux".

Construite en 1845, cette curieuse maison est l'ancienne maison du gardien du site au moment où l'on travaillait aux fouilles du théâtre. La façade a été agrémentée de stèles funéraires et de sculptures d'origine romaine. Ces stèles et autre décors ont été récupérés dans la nécropole romaine du "Champ des Urnes" situé à proximité de la Pierre de Couhard. La base des murs utilise certainement des petits moellons issus des ruines mêmes du théâtre.

L’endroit est connu sous le nom de «Caves Joyaux» ou «Cellier Jolliot» en souvenir certainement de l'utilisation du site comme cellier.
