Description

Autun (Saône-et-Loire)

La Fontaine Saint-Lazare.

On doit cette fontaine, construite en 1543, à Jean Goujon.

Jean Goujon était un sculpteur majeur de la Renaissance. Il est considéré comme le plus grand sculpteur français de la première moitié du XVIe siècle. Jean Goujon serait né vers 1510 en Normandie.Jean Goujon quitte probablemement la France à la fin de 1562, pour des raisons religieuses. Sa présence est attestée à Bologne dans le milieu des réfugiés huguenots, vers 1563-1564. On suppose que l’artiste disparaît en Italie entre 1564 et 1569.

On lui doit la "Dame d'Anet" (Louvre), les "Quatre Saisons" (Carnavalet), la "Tribune des Caryatides" (Louvre), les "Nymphes" de la fontaine des Innocents, etc...
