Evaporating machinery for condensingmilk, etc. At the back of the Machine Shops and Boiler House,after crossing under the tracks of the Intramural Railroad,the visitor finds on the extreme right the Gas and Oil exhibits.Across the tracks are the Custom House and the outsideexhibits of Germany. Next to the Oil exhibit, the touristwill encounter the Sawmills covering a space of 125 by 300feet and erected at a cost of $35,000. Sawmills in operationas exhibits are shown here. Next is the unique exhibit of aloggers camp. Alongside of this is the Stock Pavilion andfurther Southward is the Stock Exhibit. Forty acres are covered by the build-ings for the stock exhibits. The pavilion is a great oblong-building, having a show ring for animals and an amphitheatrefor spectators. The pavilion is 280 by 440 feet in size. Here willbe stabled the cows participating in the milk, butter andcheese tests, to be conducted during the Exposition. Nextcomes the Car House and Power House of the ElevatedRailroad. Close to the lake front is the Forestry Building. It isin appearance the most unique of all the Exposition structures.Its dimensions are 200 by 500 feet. To a remarkable degreeits architecture of the rustic order. On all four sides ofthe building are verandas, supporting the roof of which is acolonade consisting of a series of columns composed ofthree tree-trunks each 25 feet in length, one of them from 16to 20 inches in diameter and the others smaller. All of thesetrunks are left in their natural state, with bark undisturbed.They are contributed by the different States and Territoriesof the Union and foreign countries, each furnishing specim
