(about half of them Moham-medans) and a garrison of 3500 men, is the business-centre of theHerzegovina, and seat of a Rom. Cath. and a Greek bishop and of amnfti. The town stretches from N. to S., between the hills of Humto the W. and Podvelez to the E., on both sides of the Narenta,the banks of which are here nigged and rocky. Of the 30 mosquesonly the Karadzozbegova Mosque (PL 2; C, 2) in the Sauerwald-gasse deserves a visit. — Turning to the right on quitting theRailway Station (Bahnhof; PI.
