Summary

[edit]
Description
English: embers of the 464 RAAF mosquito squadron attend a flag breaking ceremony at Gravesend airfield in England for Anzac Day in 1944. The Australian blue ensign hoisted here may be the one held by the Australian War Memorial which was also flown over Melsbrock, Belgium. According to the eyewitness statement of P/O W. Dudley Hemmings (later F/O D.F.C) he is pictured to the left of Wing Commander R. Iredale DFC and Bar C. De Guere, who is in the centre looking at the blue ensign flying aloft and free. There is a Union Jack is flying to the right in the far background.
