Summary

[edit]
Description Smoke billows skyward from the “Gospers Mountain Fire” -a densely grown area of the Wollemi National Park. It was one of the largest fires Australia had ever seen. Rick Lang took these shots while onboard a 690 Turbo Commander flying ahead of large air tankers showing them where to strategically drop retardant. The height of this smoke column is impressive. Frequent reports noted burning debris rising with the smoke and ash, created new spot fires up to 7 miles away. Lang worked out of air bases in New South Wales during his time in country.
