Summary

[edit]
Description
English: During the Austin Seven's seventeen-year production run, it was to undergo numerous changes, with the specification continuously being improved in order to ensure it was to stay at the forefront of the sales league. In August 1934, together with the rest of the Austin range, the Seven was re-styled, with the saloon now designated 'Ruby' and its cabriolet counterpart the 'Pearl' being instantly recognisable by the longer bonnet and cowl over the radiator whilst the tail was slightly down swept with the spare wheel enclosed by a metal cover, this item also concealing a folding luggage grid. A two-seater version, known as the 'Opal', also featured in the range, this being priced at 100 guineas. For 1937, engine revisions were undertaken which included a 3-bearing crankshaft, and there were various detail improvements to the range. By the time production ceased early in 1939, almost 291,000 Austin Sevens had been produced.Presented here is a Mk II version of the Ruby Saloon, first registered in January 1937 and still retaining its original Devon registration number.
