| Description |
English: Augustinian Abbey, Adare. As I understand it, the Fitzgerald family were responsible for all 3 monasteries in Adare (the one I havn't submitted is on the golf course). This particular one was founded in 1315 and was given to the Church of Ireland in 1807. In 1814 the refectory was reroofed and converted into a schoolhouse, which is still being used for that purpose today. |
