Bull Kills Aged Farmer. Effingham, Illinois; May 13, 1929. Coroner C. M. Doty was called Friday night to the home of August Wolf, a prosperous farmer in West township, who died as a result of injuries received in his barn when attacked by a bull. Mr. Wolf led the bull from the barn to water and upon returning the animal to the barn was attacked, knocked down, butted and trampled upon. Mr. Wolf was alone at the time, but his son who had just returned from school, heard his father's cries and ran to his assistance. He seized the rope and with the assistance of Mrs. Wolf, who also heard the noise, succeeded in drawing the bull away from his victim. A physician was called but Mr. Wolf passed away at 5:30 o'clock the same evening. His breast was badly mashed, one rib broken and he was badly injured inwardly. He constantly spit up blood. Mr. Wolf was 74 years old.
