Title |
In this 1974 photo Mr. August Vogel chops wood to feed his family’s kitchen stove in New Ulm, a county seat and trading centre in a farming area of south-central Minnesota. New Ulm was founded in 1854 by a land company of German immigrants that encouraged their kinsmen to emigrate from Europe. The town has grown modestly since 1950 with the arrival of several manufacturing firms; at the 2010 census its population was 13,522. |
