Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Speakers are electroacoustic transducers that produce sound in response to an electrical audio signal input. Non-electrical loudspeakers were developed as accessories to telephone systems, but electronic amplification by vacuum tube made loudspeakers more generally useful.

A full-range driver is designed to have the widest frequency response possible. Used in multi-driver speaker systems, the crossover is a subsystem that separates the input signal into different frequency ranges suited to each driver.

Sound is a mechanical wave that is an oscillation of pressure transmitted through a solid, liquid, or gas, composed of frequencies within the range of hearing.

Sound reproduction is an electrical or mechanical inscription and re-creation of sound waves, such as spoken voice, singing, music, or sound effects.

Most loudspeaker systems consist of drivers mounted in an enclosure, or cabinet. The simplest driver mount is a flat panel.
