English: The Auckland Lunatic Asylum on Carrington Road, Point Chevalier prior to the addition of the new wing in 1879. Opened in 1867 as the Auckland Provincial Lunatic Asylum on the Oakley Estate at Point Chevalier. Known as the Auckland Lunatic Asylum from 1877, then as the Auckland Mental Hospital from 1905, then known as Oakley Hospital, then as Carrington Psychiatric Hospital.
