Aucissa BROOCH
Description
English: Cast copper alloy bow brooch; Aucissa type. The flat head which is broader than the bow, is rolled over upwards to hold an iron axial bar. The bow is arched to a semicircle and has a prominent median ridge. The knobbed foot is short and returned sharply from the bow. There are two transverse mouldings at the junction of the head and bow. Hinged pin; most of which is missing. L: 48 W: 1-20. The bow on this example is not as broad as is usual for this type. Similar to an example from Colchester (Crummy 1983, 10 no. 19 fig. 5)
