Description
English: Attic sarcophagus. Marble. Found in the district of Vyron, Athens. The sarcophagus is adorned with reliefs of Dionysiac character. Dionusos is shown on one of the long sides, supported by a Satyr with small erotes holding the symbols of the four seasons. The other long side has a small eros, gardlands, bucrania (bull-scalps) and lion’s heads. One of the narrow sides has a sphinx and on the other are two small erotes and a censer. A.D. 150-170.
