Karnataka High Court , Bengaluru, India, known as 'Attara Kacheri' which housed the Secretariat of erstwhile Princely State of Mysore and State of Mysore of Independent India

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru, India is housed in 'Attara Kacheri', a heritage building in Bengaluru. The term 'Attara' (eighteen) refers to 18 administrative divisions of Kingdom of Mysore which was created by Chikka Devaraja of Wodeyar dynasty who ruled the Kingdom from 1673 to 1704. This Building gets heritage status due to its antiquity as well as it stands as a mute spectator to the turn of events and of many important political developments which are significant in the History of Karnataka. The British colonists planned to construct a new administrative building in Bangalore and the work was started in 1864. The construction work was subcontracted to Arcot Narrinswamy Mudaliyar, while Mark Cubon, a British Colonel was the Commissioner of the Mysore State and the the building was commissioned in 1868. It served as a Secretariat for eighteen administrative departments of erstwhile Princely State of Mysore and that of Independent India's Mysore state till 1956. It is a neoclassical red-painted stone and brick building in Cubon Park, located on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar road opposite to Vidhana Soudha ( Current Secretariat of Karnataka State constructed in 1956)
