Summary
[edit]DescriptionAtraksi Kesenian Sisingaan.jpg |
English: Sisingaan art was created around 1840 by artists from the Ciherang area, which is about 5 km from downtown Subang. This Sisingaan art can be categorized as a symbolic resistance of the Subang people against the invaders. The lion is a symbol of the Netherlands and England, two countries that were seen as colonizers by the people of Subang in the mid-19th century. In the Sisingaan show, there are two stuffed lions (symbols of the two European countries) ridden and controlled by a small child (symbol of the people). Subang) which is above it. This means ridicule and harassment of the pride symbol of the colonialists. Thus, this meaning is still the interpretation of the Sisingaan symbol among the people of Subang until now. The symbol of a stuffed lion sitting on a small child can be interpreted as a reflection of the anti-colonial culture in Subang society. |
