HAND AND FINGERS (A) Fractures Fractures of the carpal hones are rare, and occur usuallyin combination with severe lacerated or contused woundsof the soft parts by which they are covered. The degreeof the injury depends on the severity of the complicatinglesion. Fractures of the metacarpal bones are not so uncommon,and are produced by a fall on the dorsum of the hand, bya direct blow, etc. Abnormal mobility and crepitationcan usually be demonstrated, along with intense pain at Tab. 47 a.
