THE REMOVAL OF TUMORS FROM THE ORBIT 287 Technic.—The operation is performed under anes-thesia. The eyebrows and hair having been shaved fromthe entire temporal region, an assistant rotates the patientshead slightly toward the sound side, and the operatortakes his position at the patients head or to one side,under lateral illumination. The first step of the opera-tion consists in dividing the soft parts with a curved inci-sion, as shown in Fig. 117. The incision begins above,at the point where the linea semicircularis of the frontalbone, which is readily felt, intersects a horizontal linerunning 1 cm. above and parallel to the supra-orbitalmargin, and is carried downward in a gentle curve alongthe temporal edge of the orbit to the level of the upper edgeof the zygoma, where it makes a bend backward and endsat the center of the zygoma.
