De sterke nadruk op de forten en schansen die sedert 1648 in het gebied waren aangelegd, benadrukken het militaire aspect van de kaart.; Linksboven een opdracht van Nicolaes Visscher II aan Hendrik Thibaut en Adriaan van Hecke.
English: This map was published by Nicolaes Visscher I (1618-1679) in 1656 as a result of the war in Flanders. The fortifications and military character of the map have been emphasized.
