Description
Nederlands: Op 19 augustus 1629 veroverde een kleine Nederlandse troepenmacht onder leiding van Otto van Gent van Dieden met een verrassingsaanval de stad Wesel op de Spanjaarden. Op deze kaart van Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652) zijn de verschillende fasen van de aanval met toelichtende tekstjes ingetekend. In de inzet rechtsboven is het beslissende moment van de aanval verbeeld.
English: August 19, 1629 a small Dutch army led by Otto van Gent van Dieden captured the city of Wesel in a surprise attack from the Spanish. This map by Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652) depicts the different scenes of the attack with explaining texts. The inset top right depicts the decisive moments during the battle.
