Description
English: Athena Nike Temple. Parapet. Nikai, Ακρ. 1014 and Ακρ. 1004 , Agorakritos' workshop, Around 410 BC.

Left. A standing Nike with spread wings is depicted, preserved down to her middle thighs. She is draped in a girded peplos fastened with metal fibulae on the shoulders and over it a fine himation. The edges of the band around her hair fall on her shoulders. With her left hand, which is now lost, she held a greave. Most probably she was about to adorn a trophy or watched a sacrifice. It not known where this Nike stood on the balustrad.

Right. A winged Nike holds a shield and moves swiftly to the viewer’s left. She is clad in a sleeveless chiton and short himation whereas with her left hand she grips tightly the shield’s ochanon. The perspective rendered by the shortened forearm within the inner concave surface of the shield manifests the sculptor’s masterly skill.
