Description Sainte-Lucie
Tenthrède est un nom vernaculaire ambigu en français qui désigne les imagos de nombreuses espèces parmi les Hyménoptères formant le groupe des mouches à scie ou symphytes (Symphyta). Leur larve ravageuse est souvent appelée fausse-chenille car elle ne donnera pas un papillon mais un insecte apparenté aux guêpes, dont il se distingue par l'absence de « taille » fine. Le mot tenthrède vient de la francisation du genre Tenthredo qui a donné son nom aux taxons supérieurs jusqu'à la super-famille Tenthredinoidea.
