[edit]DescriptionAt the centre of the Great Pyramid (47315820161).jpg |
This is the King's Chamber which is close to the middle of the Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu). At the rear, with the guide leaning on it, is the stone sarcophagus in which the pharaoh was entombed. The chamber size is 10.47 metres (34.35 ft) by 5.23 metres (17.16 ft) and has a flat roof 5.85 metres (19.19 feet) high. The entire pyramid was built for the pharaoh Khufu (otherwise known as Cheops) and is the only remaining "Wonder of the World". The pyramid is 146.7 metres (481 ft) high, was constructed about 2580–2560 BC and lies just outside the present Cairo suburbs - not in a remote spot as I once thought. The camera I used was a Nikkormat FTn with a 35mm f2.0 AI manual focus lens. As far as I can remember (this was taken in 1984) the film was almost certainly Kodachrome. |
