MAP NO. XI. 122. This map is projected with the Equinoc-tial as a base line, instead of the Ecliptic. It rep-resents that portion of the heavens situated be-tween Draco and Ophiucus et Serpens. The per-pendicular through the center of the map is a por-tion of the 16 hour circle of Right Ascension; itis on the meridian 2 hours before the head ofDraco (Sec. 44), and 16 hours after, or 8 hoursbefore, the Vernal Equinox. The map contains thehandle of the Dipper and head of Draco, in com-mon with Map No. I., Cor Caroli and the lowerpart of Bootes, in common with Map No. VII.,and the heads of Ophiucus and Serpens, in com-mon with Map No. VIII. 123. Bootes. The Bear Driver. This con-stellation is represented on the globe as a manholding in his hand a leash, directing two dogs —Asterion and Chara— which are hunting the Bearsround the Pole.
