This map represents a portion of theheavens extending from the parallel of the WinterSolstice — 23^° of South Declination — to a fewdegrees past the South Pole; the perpendicularline is the circle of 8 hours of Right Ascension.The map includes the Southern portion of CanisMajor, in common with Map No. V., the whole ofthe constellation Argo, and contiguous stars, manyof which have been previously noted. 128. Argo — The ship in which Jason and hiscompanions are said to have sailed in quest of thegolden fleece of Aries. This constellation coversa large portion of the heavens lying Southeast ofCanis Major, but the greater number of its starsare always below the horizon of the NorthernStates. It contains 64 discernible stars, two ofwhich —p and c-, both of the third magnitude — inthe beak of the prow, are shown on Map No. V.Tureis — p— is 21° Southeast from Sirius, and 25°Southwest from Alphard; ? is 4° West from p.South 37° from Sirius, 21° Southeast
