Description
Nederlands: Het astrolabium werd ontwikkeld in de 3de of 2de eeuw voor Christus. Dit Latijnse woord komt van het Griekse 'astron labein': 'een ster meten'. De Grieken en Romeinen gebruikten het instrument om de positie van sterren te bepalen. Vanaf de late middeleeuwen werd het ook een navigatieinstrument aan boord van schepen.
