Description
English: Astra Cinema, 175 Woodhouse Street, Woodhouse, Leeds, LS6 2NY. It opened as the Picture Palace in November 1911 with “Trafalgar”. The name was changed to Astra Cinema on 5th June 1946. It closed on Saturday 2 August 1958 with “Woman in a Dressing Gown”. The premises were used as a nightclub for several years and then for commercial purposes. When photographed in June 2005 the building was boarded up and it was demolished shortly after. The site was vacant in 2014.
