Aspirin or acetylsalicylic acid is a drug, often used as an analgesic to relieve aches and pains. Aspirin was isolated in 1897 by Felix Hoffmann. Used often in organic chemistry teaching, because it can be synthesized in school laboratory and it has many functional groups (e.g. ester, benzene ring, carboxylid acid).
