Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Ashok stambh was established in Minto Park in 1910 under the tenure of Viceroy Lord Minto as a memorial of the place from where the Queen Victoria made the announcement of transferring the hegemony of India from East India Company to the British Government, after the rage against the policies of British East India Company on 1 November 1858. The announcement letter was read by Lord Canning from the place, which is also called "Magna Carta" of India.
