English: The famous Ashok Binayak Temple is located in Hanumandhoka Durbar Square area of Kathmandu. This temple is located in Maru Tol. It has various names: Maru Ganesh, Kathmandu Ganesh and Ashok Binayak. The famous four Binayaks of Nepal are Suryabinayaka, Karyabinayaka, Jalavinayaka, Ashoka Binayak among them.
Lord Ganesha is the first deity of Hinduism. Lord Ganesha's father is Mahadev and his mother is Parbati. Daughters of brother Kartikeya and wife Vishwakarma are Shridhi and Siddhi. The mouse is considered to be the vehicle of Ganesha. There is a tradition of worshiping Ganesha at the beginning of any worship, every religious act of Hindus. Ganesha is worshiped at the beginning of studies, marriages, going on journeys and journeys, going to war and when there is any crisis so that there is no hindrance in that work. Accordingly, Ashok Vinayaka temple is very famous. Before Jung Bahadur Rana became the prime minister, when Dharma Narayan Salmi built the temple, he dreamed of having a temple without gujar. At the site of this Ganesha temple, there used to be a huge Ashoka tree. This Ganesha temple is called Ashoka Binayak because it is under the same Ashoka tree. There is no gajur in this temple. When a jyapu is coming through that tree, a white mouse is always dancing at the base of the tree. After that, the Jyaipu dug under the tree and found a statue of Ganesha and a stone statue of a mouse. But the white mouse seen earlier disappeared after receiving it. As Ganesha appeared there that night, this Lord Ganesha was installed at that place. According to the Lalmohar records of the year 1857, this temple can be considered very old. According to legend, devotees have a belief that if they offer 21 or 108 sesame laddus in this Ganesha temple, their wishes will be fulfilled. There is also a popular belief that by worshiping this Ganesha, the grief of a person will disappear. Since Tuesday is called the day of Ganesha, there is a huge crowd of devotees here every Tuesday. Ganesh Chauthi festival and Tuesdays in the month of Magh are also crowded with devotees. Bhadra Shukla Chauthitithi is considered as the birthdate of Lord Ganesha. |
