Summary
[edit]DescriptionAshleworth Tithe Barn - geograph.org.uk - 1418391.jpg |
English: Ashleworth Tithe Barn This limestone tithe barn was built around 1496 and was acquired by the National Trust in 1956. Here tithes were collected from local farmers by the Abbey of St Augustine, Bristol, the land owner. Tenant farmers would bring a tenth of their annual produce as rent. They would drive a wagon in one door, drop off the produce inside and drive out the other door.
