Arykanda Stadion

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Compared to a normal stadion’s length the Arycanda one, with 117 meters, is a bit over half sized. And to complicate matters the three rows of seats were at only one – north - side of the track. Ornaments in the stadion are it the same satyle as in the theatre, it has been argued they are by the same architect. A function of the stadion terrace was, to stop stones rolling from the hill behind it from causing damage in the city parts below.

Note that on some picture one sees a building with niches, that does not belong to the stadion proper.
