H. ARTHUR HOWE PINGREE ARTHUR HOWE PINGREE must be accounted as one wholoved his fellowmen. From boyhood and especially throughhis ministerial career he gave himself in loving devotion tothe service of others, exemplifying in his death the words of hisdivine Master, Greater love hath no man than this that a manlay down his life for his friends. Mr. Pingree was born in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, July 3,1868, and died July 19, 1915, at Annisquam, Massachusetts. Hisfather, William John Pingree (February 16, 1835-October 25, 1912)was a prominent merchant — a man of the highest integrity,generous to every worthy cause — and a prince among men. His mother, Lucretia P. Howe, was a woman of rare sweetnessof character, of high culture and kindly disposition, whoseinfluence over her sons moral character remained a priceless heri-tage to him all through his later years.
