The under sides of leaves are painted, after the upper edge is dry, withpaler colour made ))y adding more water to the brush, as also are the stems. Themain stem is painted last, in betAveen the stems that join it. A\Tiile the green ofthe stem is still wet. a little red is touched in Avhere the stem shows pink. Whereone side is very dark, a little blue is added. The transparent appearance of the stems is obtained by using more water thancolour in the brush. After an exercise like the second on jiage 117, the painting of any flower inthis Avay should not be difficult. FRUITS AXn VKOKTABLES Fruit spravs may be handled in a similar manner. Further suggestionsregarding the drawing of fruits and vegetables are given in the Maniuil. TREESInstructions have been given in Forms 1 and 11 witli regard to teaching thedrawinsf of various trees.
