[edit]DescriptionArriva bus 2508 VDL SB200 Wrightbus Commander CX54 EPO Traws Cambria Route X32 to Bangor, in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion 9 August 2007.jpg |
English: Arriva North West and Wales 2508 (CX54 EPO), a VDL SB200/Wright Commander, in Aberystwyth, on TrawsCambria route X32 to Bangor.
One of a network of services, mostly funded by the Welsh Assembly, connecting towns and cities throughout Wales. The only problem is that they really are buses rather than coaches, with standard type bus seats and no 'loos'. The journey time for the Aberystwyth to Bangor service is just under three and a half hours. I did try the service from Aber to Swansea on one occasion but have never repeated it! Trouble is, the rail alternative requires travelling to Shrewsbury to connect with north or south Wales services (nearly two hours for that part of the journey alone). So, if you don't have a car the only viable option is Traws Cambria. What a tragedy that the internal Welsh north/south rail routes were closed many years ago. A recent announcement claims that the Traws Cambria services are to be upgraded - it will be interesting to see if more suitable vehicles are provided. |
