Description
English: 7 November 2008. The carpark in Rawlinson Terrace N17 licenced by Arriva Buses from Haringey Council.
Original Message -----

From : Alan Stanton, Tottenham Hale ward councillor To : Haringey Urban Environment Department Sent : 12 November 2008 Subject : Dumping & Litter - Arriva Carpark

During 2003 and 2004 I nagged away about dumping and litter and the lack of any cleaning schedule in the carpark at the south end of Rawlinson Terrace. Arriva Buses licensed this from Haringey Council for use by their bus drivers.

At the end of 2004 there was a meeting between Arriva managers and the Parking Service and things improved greatly.

Recently things seem to have got worse again. Please see my photos on Flickr. As well as Autumn leaves, there was litter, cans, dumped rubbish, a broken supermarket trolley and more - along nearly every wall, in every corner, and under the bushes.

Are Arriva buses still licensing the carpark from the Council? Does their agreement make them responsible for keeping the carpark clear and clean? Are there penalty clauses?

► If so, please contact them to ensure they stick to their agreement and not only do an urgent clean-up but make sure it's kept clean.

► Can I suggest the obvious: Arriva makes it as simple and easy as possible for their staff using the carpark to report dumping; or if a routine sweep has been missed. It's unpleasant for Arriva staff to wade through trash, so I assume they'd be willing to help.

► I also suggest Arriva should erect a couple of clearly visible metal signs which give a phone number at the company so anyone can report dumping.

This carpark is next to the Green Primary School entrance. Dumping and litter gives a poor impression to school visitors, staff and parents; and sets a bad example to the children.
