[edit]DescriptionArmy Corps supports, works with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on inspections of non-federal dams after Tropical Storm Irene (6143968663).jpg | Ronald Pinzon, a project manager from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, and Charles Frey, chief of the Foundations and Dams Section at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, work September 2, 2011 in the New York State Emergency Management Office in Albany on coordinating post-storm dam inspections in New York in support of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation after Tropical Storm Irene. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, through a request from FEMA, worked with the NYSDEC to conduct post-storm inspections of several dozen non-federal dams in counties in New York after Tropical Storm Irene. The inspections were not full inspections of the dams, but rather checks to determine what damage or issues, if any, may have resulted at the dams from Tropical Storm Irene. New York District personnel were augmented by engineers from the Corps' Baltimore and Norfolk districts and worked with DEC personnel to inspect the dams, which were spread throughout a large of area of several hundred square miles.
